Welcome to the Web Site of Andy's Farrier Service. This site isn't intended to throw a bunch of Equine Biomechanic facts, terms, new technology at you. You'll be able to find plenty of that with Dr. Deb on the 'Favorite Sites' page if that's what you desire. We could get deeper into some of that too. Just send some specific details in an email to me and I will do the best I can to try and help. This little Web site is mostly for your obvious interest and enjoyment of the Equine species, and to tell you a little about myself. My name is Andy Ostertag, and I'm in the business of Equine Farriery for the Public. My barn is located between the cities of Hastings and Cannon Falls MN, and I provide hoofcare to my Clients Donkeys, Horses, and Mules in an approximate radius of 35 to 40 miles. Also, I offer discount hourly rates plus materials at my barn/shop complete with a large holding pen and plenty of room for me to work rain or shine. It's located aproximately 5 miles east of Hampton, MN. Rates vary, with regular business hours MON-FRI being the most economical, with after 5 pm and Saturday increasing slightly. Please contact me with questions for a possible appointment, either at your barn or mine, 10 to 14 days in advance if at all possible. There is always a possibility there will be an opening sooner, but it's better to allow a little extra time. Flexibility is always greatly appreciated. Email me at andyostertag@hotmail.com Reference your intent in the subject line please or call 612-501-1230.

- IMPORTANT QUALITIES TO INSTILL IN YOUR EQUINE that will help your Farrier be able to help your Equine and You. Remember that each one of these qualities is a two way street in your Partnership. But also, remember that the leader needs a minimum of a 51% share in that Partnership.. If you're not that majority leader, some one else has to be.
- Build MUTUAL RESPECT with TRUST
- Build COMMUNICATION [universal and verbal]
- Build TOLERANCE
- Build ACCEPTANCE
- Build PATIENCE
- These can be taken to what ever level you'd like.
PLEASE always put safety above pride everytime, for your own sake. If you run into a block or plateau, seek the supervision and advice of a respectable, experienced Professional in the Equine Handling Industry.
